Having won the toss, Enfield opted to have a bat. Tom Horne continued his fine form scoring another fifty at the top of the order. There was a significant milestone for number 3 Dillan Tailor reached his first fifty. Contributions right throughout the order including some long levered blows from captain Mackett helped his side to a healthy 226 for 7 from their 45 over.
Although wickets didn’t come early a marvellous opening spell from Kaysar Ahammed kept Wembley subdued before a flurry of wickets reduced Wembley to 92 for 4. Then came the rain, both sides keen to stay out for a long as they could before coming off after 28 overs. At that point, Wembley was behind the required rate by just 3 runs. After a 45 minute break but losing just 3 overs both sides returned to the field. The break had shifted the momentum completely in Wembley’s favour, aided by a pitch that had flattened out due to the rain. Wembley reaches their total 4 overs to spare.
A fabulous game of cricket played in great spirit in the most part by both sides. A tough loss to take but on the whole another strong performance from a side containing 5 under the age of 17. Roll on next week, away to Hornsey.
