The first game of a season is always a challenge (new players, selection woes) and this proved no different. With a number of players new to the Club or new to senior cricket, the 3s faced a strong Brondesbury side.
Batting first, Brondesbury were able to compile a very competitive 348 - 4 from 45 overs - a score that, ultimately, would prove far too much on the day. With a young side, it's often difficult to maintain motivation during an innings such as that, but the youngsters who stepped up to the plate performed admirably.
In reply, we were never really able to get close, finishing 133 all out. Will Hoyle top-scored with 38.
A huge thanks to those youngsters and new members who stepped in this week. Despite the result, it was a positive experience and one to learn from.
Things can only go up!
