The 1s continued their successful start to the season with victory on Saturday against Eastcote. On winning the toss, captain Kyal Bacchus-Brown decided to bat first on a sunny day at Lincoln Road. After losing Jack Plumb (20), the innings was propelled by a 200-run partnership between Les Edwards (125) and Rehan Hassan (106). We eventually posted a formidable 302-5 in their allocated 45 overs. In response, Eastcote were never really in the hunt as early wickets, for Faisal Mir and Arthur George, left them well behind the required run rate. Dan Amedee, Patrick Blair and Hassan then combined to ensure Eastcote finished well short on 205 all out, as we won by 97 runs and remain joint leaders of Division Two.

On Sunday, Actonians visited Lincoln Road in the third round of the Middlesex Cup. After being initially reduced to 40-2, Australian Sam Smyth and Hassan combined to rip the heart out of the Actonians attack, adding 266 for the third wicket. Hassan (126) excelled in scoring his second century of the weekend but again had to play second fiddle, as Smyth unveiled his full range of shots in a breathtaking 192 (from just 121 deliveries). We closed on a phenomenal score of 395-4 in 45 overs. Actonians response faltered early as Edwards (3-26) bowled well and, despite some big hitting by the middle order, Actonians could only muster 230-9 - us running out deserved victors by the considerable margin on 165 runs.

On Saturday, the 2nd XI visited Eastcote. We won the toss, but started poorly in the field allowing the Eastcote top order to score freely. It was a different story after drinks with a much tighter bowling and fielding display preventing Eastcote from scoring well over 300. Eastcote finished 286-6 in their 45 overs. It was a similar story with the bat, unfortunately, with some loose play and a lack of application preventing batsmen from converting starts into a score. Asad Shah (82 from 60 balls) put on a strong display but the top order couldn't support him. A lower order fightback from Sam Martin (42) and James Quinlan (41) brought us within a sight of victory, but it was too little too late. The 2s lost by 44 runs.

A young 3rd XI welcomed newly-promoted Crouch End. Having lost the toss and been asked to bat, we lost early wickets. A captain's innings from Adam Baxter (89) and a strong partnership with Jack Ryan (36) dragged us to a competitive 211-7. Crouch End's openers punished loose bowling and raced to 75-0 from 12 overs. A strong spell from young Ben Nesbitt and Ollie Weenan (on debut) brought the 3s back into it, but that wasn't enough - Crouch End running out victors by 7 wickets.
