Points all round!

On Saturday the 1s continued their fine run of league form by crushing Eastcote to make it six wins in a row. On a sweltering afternoon we won the toss at Eastcote's Haydon Hall ground and invited ouropponents to bat first. We generally bowled and fielded well, on what was an excellent pitch for batting, and ensured Eastcote were unable to break loose before the home side opted to declare at the halfway point on a score of 256-6.

The start of our innings was dominated by Neville Talbot, who got off the mark with a huge six and then proceeded to tear Eastcote's bowlers apart, as he plundered 91 from just 35 balls. After Talbot fell, caught on the longest boundary, Chris Long joined Jack Plumb in the middle and both continued their excellent form. Neither looked in any trouble as they strolled towards their victory target. Long finishing unbeaten on 62 and Plumb on 104*, his second league century of the season, as we cruised to victory, making 259-1 with fifteen overs to spare.

This win leaves us in a clear second place in Division Two of the Middlesex County Cricket League, just one point behind the leaders. We will be looking to celebrate Club President's Day with further success when Harrow St. Mary's visit Lincoln Road this week.

The 2nd XI also got back on track after two recent poor performances. Their visitors at Lincoln Road were Barnes, who were hustled out for 149 by a good team bowling performance, with Tom Bolt (3-25) the main wicket-taker. Tom Marsh (47) then top-scored in his first match of the season, with us eventually winning by three wickets.

The 3s got a much-needed win too away to Harrow. After being asked to bat, we managed a composed innings, reaching 224-8 from 47 overs, with James Kerr top-scoring on 48. In reply, we took early wickets to leave Harrow 12-4, and despite a middle-order recovery, were able to bowl Harrow out for 128 with 7 overs to spare.
