A weekend to move on from!

The 1s made it five league wins in a row after defeating Barnes at Lincoln Road on Saturday. After putting Barnes into bat, our bowlers restricted them to 220 all out, with Neville Talbot (4-64) being the pick of a good team bowling effort. After losing Jack Plumb early, Talbot (37), Chris Long (42) and Max Houlahan (66) put us into a strong, winning position. Despite a late wobble, Dan Amedee struck successive boundaries to see us home by two wickets with four overs to spare. This victory maintains second spot in the league table.

The 2nd XI enjoyed less success as they were defeated by Osterley. After being in a strong position at 130-2, on the back of good knocks by captain Neil Tilley (59) and Matt Sarkies (67), the catastrophic run-out of Sarkies prompted a team collapse to 167 all out. This total proved no obstacle for Osterley who comfortably won by 8 wickets.

The 3s continued their poor run with a disappointing 12 run defeat at home to Osterley. Despite dismissing Osterley for 150, and Jack Ryan taking 7-36, they were unable to capitalise, ultimately being bowled out for 138.

Our bid to retain the Middlesex Cup came to an end on Sunday as Stanmore gained revenge for their defeat in the 2016 final. After electing to bat first a weakened side batted somewhat recklessly and were dismissed for 194 with seven overs of the innings remaining. Dan Amedee (44) and Les Edwards (37) the pick of the batsmen. The game was finely poised when Stanmore were 83-3, but thereafter the luck was with the batting side and Stanmore reached their target for the loss of five wickets.

Here's to next weekend!
