Bank holiday celebrations!

On Bank Holiday Monday the Chairman staged a 25/25 over internal club match followed by a complimentary BBQ for players, spectators and other guests.

The two sides were arranged and captained by Neil Tilley and Julian Weenan who achieved a very good balance of father and sons competing against each other as well as other interesting duels and stand offs. Highlights included Harry Tilley dropping father Neil Tilley in the deep and Gerry Ryan giving Jack Ryan a proper family send off when he caught him.

It was a competitive match umpired by Paul Nicholls and Geoff Aldworth and with Sir Ed Barnard keeping tag of the scoring. Joe Naughton provided a commentary to keep the large crowd fully informed and interested. The sport was a great backdrop to the BBQ that Sue Wright organised, cooked and served with her own personal Chef in attendance.

The weather stayed kind and the late evening thunder storm was helpful in damping down the barbeque embers but not the enthusiasm of the remaining members who finished the party off.

It was a great occasion and may well become a regular part of our social calendar.
